The original Tor-dur-bar is a Hormad created by Ras Thavas in the vats of Morbus. He is more intelligent than most of his kind and possesses an unusually sympathetic character. He befriends Vor Daj and is delighted to recieve a Red Martian body from his creator Ras Thavas, that of the Assassin Gantum Gur. After this, he calls himself Tun Gan until the extingences of the plot bring him to Amhor. Here, he assums Gantum Gur's identity and is of considerable service to Vor Daj, whose brain is currently inhabiting Tor-dur-bar's abandoned Hormad body, and his love interest Jannai.
